Terms of Use

Plain-language terms for using CineGuard. Not legal advice; have them reviewed before relying on them.

No guarantee of completeness

CineGuard is community-built. Warnings may be incomplete, mis-timed, or missing entirely, and timestamps can shift between cuts and streaming versions. The absence of a warning is not a statement that a film is safe for you. Use the site as an aid to your own judgement.

Accounts

You are responsible for activity under your account. Don't impersonate others, don't create accounts to evade moderation, and keep your credentials to yourself.

Contributions

  • Submit warnings, timestamps and notes in good faith and as factually as you can.
  • Keep spoilers in notes to the minimum needed to describe the trigger — enough to recognise the scene, not to recount the plot.
  • By contributing, you grant CineGuard a perpetual, non-exclusive licence to publish, edit and distribute your contribution as part of the database.
  • Don't upload material you don't have the right to share, including copyrighted text or images.

Community conduct

Reviews and discussions exist so people can describe how a scene affected them. Harassment, mockery of someone's triggers, hate speech, and deliberately misleading warnings are removed, and repeat offenders lose access.

Moderation

Moderators may edit, re-time or remove any warning, review or discussion post, and may reject film requests. Film metadata and posters remain the property of their respective rights holders and are used for identification.

Liability

CineGuard is provided "as is", without warranties. We are not liable for distress or loss arising from reliance on warning data. If you rely on warnings for medical reasons — photosensitive epilepsy, for example — treat the site as one input among several.
